Henry Cejudo admits that Paddy Pimbett is better than he was initially thought.
Pimbett (22-3 MMA, 6-0 UFC) faces the old title Challenger Michael Chandler (23-9 MMA, 2-4 UFC) in the UFC 314 Co-Headliner of Saturday 314 (Pay-Per-View, ESPN, ESPN +) at Kaseya Center in Miami.
Although Pimbett is a light favorite of betting on Chandler, Cejudo would consider this as an upheaval if he was able to beat the former Bellator champion several times – and he thinks he will do it.
“I feel an upheaval,” said Cejudo on his podcast “Pound 4 Pound” with Kamaru Usman. “Paddy Pimbalelett, I think he will bring grappling. I think he could beware of this guy. His hands are not bad either. I also think that he can force Michael Chandler to do something at the bottom. If he cannot shoot Michael Chandler, he will more likely have to do this.
“But I just feel like Paddy Pimbelett, it is much better than what I thought and what he could do at Bobby Green, his transitional things. We have to put a little respect on the name of this guy, and he only improves, my brother. Feeling an upheaval here.
Looking at the landscape of the light division, Cejudo sees great implications for Pimbett with a victory.
“I think that, a victory over Michael Chandler, could put him in a very good position,” continued Cejudo. “He could be a fight far from fighting for the title.”
