‘Helldivers’ film adaptation announced – bloody and disgusting

So here’s a weird one. It was reported in December that Austin Butler would play the role of Patrick Bateman in a new film adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel American Psycho for the director Luca Guadagnino (Suspiria, Challengers), but these reports are now disputed by none other than Bret Easton Ellis himself.

In a recent episode of the Bret Easton Ellis podcast, the author of the original American Psycho suggested that Austin Butler hadn’t actually signed on to play Patrick Bateman in the new American Psycho movie. In his own words, he suggests the report is “fake news.”

I have a feeling this is fake news.“, reflects Easton Ellis. “I heard somewhere, from someone, that there were no contracts. Austin Butler hasn’t signed anything to play Patrick Bateman. Luca disagrees. Scott Burns, who is supposed to write the screenplay, also doesn’t have a deal.”

The author continued, “According to various sources that I have, this is just fake news that has been put out there to see how the public will react.”

“If it exists, I am not involved,” he adds. “I had nothing to do with it. I might make money if they do that, but I’m not involved creatively on any level, and that’s all I know.

The original report on Butler’s involvement in the Guadagnino affair American Psycho came courtesy of Variety on December 11, 2024, a very reliable source of movie news. But Easton Ellis’ comments dovetail with recent comments from journalist Jeff Sneider, who suggested the announcement was “more about making Lionsgate a little more attractive on paper as an acquisition target than about talking about an actual movie that’s going to happen.” .”

Stay tuned for more on this developing story as we learn it.

In the novel, “Patrick Bateman (played by Christian Bale in the 2000 film), a wealthy executive at a New York investment bank, hides his alternative psychopathic ego from his colleagues and friends as he delves deeper into his violent, hedonistic fantasies.
