Heart postpones 2024 tour as Ann Wilson undergoes cancer treatment

Musician to undergo ‘preventative chemotherapy’ after successful operation to remove ‘cancerous’

Heart has postponed the remaining dates of its North American tour after Ann Wilson revealed she is undergoing treatment for cancer.

In a statement, Wilson said she recently “underwent surgery to remove something that turned out to be cancerous.” The musician said she felt “great” after the “successful” surgery, but decided to follow her doctor’s advice and “undergo preventative chemotherapy.”

Wilson continued, “So my doctors have asked me to step away from the stage for the remainder of the year to fully recover. To those who are buying tickets, I really hope we can do these shows. Please know that I absolutely intend to return to the stage in 2025. My team is working out those details and we will keep you updated on the plan as soon as we can. Thank you all for your support. This is just a break. I have a lot more to sing.”

Heart’s cancelled dates include the remainder of their Royal Flush tour with Cheap Trick. The first leg of the tour ran in April and May and was scheduled to resume in August, with shows scheduled through September. Heart will also have to miss a handful of shows they were scheduled to perform as opening acts for Def Leppard and Journey in late July and early August.

Tickets for the original Royal Flush shows will be valid on the rescheduled dates. Information regarding the rescheduled shows will be announced in the coming weeks.

Tendency

Heart’s decision to postpone their remaining 2024 shows comes after they cancelled a European tour (originally scheduled for June and July) in late May. At the time, the band simply said that Wilson would undergo an “urgent but routine medical procedure for which the minimum recovery time is six weeks.”

Heart’s 2024 shows notably saw sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson reunite after the band took a hiatus from 2016 to 2019 due to a family feud. In the interim, the two toured under different banners, as Ann said Rolling stone In an interview about their reunion earlier this year: “We were really tired of not playing together, and we both wanted to do a Heart tour. So there’s this question that remains: Heart be Heart without Ann or Heart be Heart without Nancy? It was never possible… We just said, ‘Well, let’s do what we have to do.’ Our past awkwardness, at least from my perspective, has really been ironed out.”
