“He Was Like ’90s Father”: Bay Area fans mourn Bob Saget in SF’s “Full House”

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) – Bob Saget, best known for his role as Danny Tanner in Full House, has died aged 65.

The cause of his death is unknown. Saget’s body was found in a Ritz-Carlton in the Orlando area. Detectives say there was no sign of foul play or drug use.

Full House fans in San Francisco remember Bob Saget in a place that has become iconic among fans, the Full House.

“I want to cry, it’s very sad, I just saw it on the news,” said Mary Risley of San Francisco.

“It’s definitely sad news, he was like the dad of the 90s to everyone,” says Emmeline Loyola.

On Sunday night, over 2,800 miles from where Saget was found dead, Full House fans and Bob Saget made their way to this San Francisco home.

That night, flowers were left in memory of Saget. Scott Lucas said he left white bread for Danny Tanner and a Budweiser for Bob Saget.

“It kind of touched everyone in my generation. My siblings, my cousins, all my friends that grew up. I’m from Southern California, I think it kind of upped a generation in everything. the country, ”says Lucas.

While Bob Saget hosted America’s Funniest Home videos and always traveled as a comedian, those we spoke with associated him best with Full House; and Full House associate with San Francisco.

“The first thing I thought of when crossing that bridge, the first thing I thought of, when I think of San Fran, Full House!” Said Steve Coin of Philadelphia.

Even young people who weren’t around almost 27 years ago when Full House last aired know Bob Saget. Not only for the sequel called Fuller House, but also for the old Full House clips posted on social media.

“Not bad, people would like to joke that he was that father figure,” says Laiza Ramos.

“It was the show you were watching at 8pm with your family, it was the family show,” Risley said.

“Pretty sad news because it was our favorite childhood show when we were younger,” said Michelle Loyola.
