‘He looks scary’ – Anthony Joshua lands thunderous shots in training footage from Mike Tyson gym

Anthony Joshua trained in Mike Tyson’s boxing gym in Saudi Arabia.

AJ is currently in Riyadh after flying out to watch heavyweight rivals Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk fight for the undisputed titles this weekend.

Joshua is yet to officially confirm his next fight, but he is being targeted by Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalashikh to face the winner of Filip Hrgovic against Daniel Dubois in September at Wembley Stadium.

As he waits for the call to sign the contract for his latest outing, Joshua crashed alongside trainer Ben Davison at the city’s new ‘Mike Tyson Boxing Club’ gym.

The British heavyweight first unleashed a powerful shot on the pad that let out a thunderclap, before unleashing another powerful left hook.

Fans marveled at her power after seeing the video, with one writing: “This power. It’s scary.”

Another agreed: “F****** damn, that’s a serious punch with leg power.

“Jesus, whoever gets hit with this is screwed. Period. Wow wow wow.”

One fan joked: “Even for £1million I’d take a punch from AJ.”

One viewer even said, “Honestly, big thanks to trainer Ben Davison for polishing AJ up again! I believe AJ will send whoever he’s fighting into another slumber in September.”

After seeing the footage, a debate was sparked by a fan who wrote: “He’s in his Prime now, he’s beating Fury.”

One concluded: “In a perfect world, AJ should fight the winner of the Fury vs. Usyk fight!”

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh confirms Anthony Joshua’s next fight ahead of long-awaited showdown with Tyson Fury

Joshua has been in scintillating form since losing back-to-back meetings with Usyk, during which he lost his unified world titles in August 2022.

He first partnered with Derrick James who oversaw his initial return to form with victories over Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius in 2023.

But his last two victories against Otto Wallin in December 2023 and Francis Ngannou in March this year have allowed him to put his name back in the world title race.

The 34-year-old could be on hold if Fury and Usyk are unable to fulfill the remainder of their contracts after their first fight in the Middle East.

Although Fury’s promoter Frank Warren believes February could be the time when British boxing fans can finally see the squared circle rivalry settled.

He said: “There is obviously a rematch clause, but if Tyson is successful, of course we want to see the big fight between Fury and AJ.

But I don’t think it will be the next fight. I don’t think that will be the case because there is so much money on the line for the loser of this fight.

“I don’t know what kind of spare money you would give them to do that.

“It would only happen if someone was out of action after that first fight – that would be one thing.

“But it will come quickly. (If he wins in September), Joshua will fight the winner in February.”
