“He has everything” – Canelo Alvarez predicts Tyson Fury will beat “great fighter” Oleksandr Usyk

Canelo Alvarez is confident Tyson Fury will come out on top in his fight with Oleksandr Usyk this weekend.

The undisputed super middleweight world champion knows a thing or two about unifying all the belts in his weight class, having done just that in 2021.

On Saturday night, WBC king Fury will meet WBA, IBF and WBO champion Usyk to unify all four world heavyweight titles and crown an undisputed ruler of the division.

The fight has been in the works since Usyk’s second victory over Anthony Joshua in 2022.

After that fight, when asked about AJ’s performance, Canelo said: “He looked good, he looked good.

“It’s just that Usyk is a great fighter. I think that’s the difference.”

Tony Bellew thinks Tyson Fury had better chance of beating Oleksandr Usyk before making two major changes

As for whether he thinks the Ukrainian could repeat his success against Fury, Canelo replied: “I don’t think so.

“It’s going to be a good fight, but I think Fury is going to win because he has everything.

“He’s got boxing skills and he’s got the weight, so it’s going to be different.”

Interestingly, Joshua himself disagrees with Canelo.

Speaking to talkSPORT, AJ said: “Well, look, I fought Oleksandr Usyk, so I can only talk about what I experienced from him.

“A phenomenal fighter, he does everything wonderfully and I would say he is going to do a very good job.

“I’ve never fought Tyson Fury, so I can’t really speak to his performance or what it’s like to face him.

“So, speaking only from what I know, I have to say that Oleksandr Usyk will be victorious.”

Meanwhile, Lennox Lewis, boxing’s last undisputed heavyweight king, agreed with Canelo’s assessment.

“I believe Tyson Fury has great attributes, he’s big, he can box in both positions, he can move forward,” he told talkSPORT.

“At the moment it is difficult to beat a bigger player, so I will always say the bigger one has the advantage.

“I think Tyson Fury has points, but I’m not counting Usyk.”
