‘He had the last word’ – Oleksandr Usyk, member of the team hit by John Fury, holds the WBC belt taken from Tyson Fury

Oleksandr Usyk’s teammate, who was headbutted by John Fury, posed with the WBC belt won by Tyson Fury.

Usyk made a piece of history in Saudi Arabia by edging out Fury on the judges’ scorecards to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.

Before the Ukrainian’s victory, the start of the fight week had been eventful, with rival Tyson’s father John Fury headbutting Usyk’s team member Stanislav Stepchuk.

Fury Sr apologized for his actions, but it’s clear that Usyk decided he would have the last word in a single social media post.

The newly crowned division king gave Stepchuk the WBC belt he had snatched from Fury to unify the division, and took a photo of himself holding the strap.

Fans were quick to spot the cryptic message on social media, with one writing: “Stanislav had the last laugh.”

Another agreed, adding: “The guy who beat John Fury without doing anything.”

One fan even suggested: “I see why John cut his head putting this on him!”

The post also contained a photo of Usyk with stitches and a black eye, with the brutal fight clearly having taken its toll on the champion.

Fury Sr had apologized to Stepchuk and the rest of Usyk’s team immediately after the confrontation at media day.

He also stayed away from any further fights during fight week and acknowledged his respect for Usyk’s team.

Fury’s father was clearly disappointed after the final bell, in a fight in which “The Cat” managed to put in a truly impressive performance.

He even nearly knocked out the “Gypsy King” who was forced to survive a knockdown and recover to ring the final bell.

But Usyk’s former rival Tony Bellew believes the current heavyweight king was unfortunate not to get a stoppage in play from the referee.

“Without being too harsh, it should have been stopped in the ninth round,” he said on talkSPORT Breakfast.

“Well, (Usyk) should have been allowed to keep punching in the ninth round, it should never have been a countout and the referee knows he made a mistake.

“In professional boxing, you don’t get a standing count unless you’re about to hit the ground and the ropes are holding you up.

“(Fury) was stumbling. He tripped four times before reaching the fifth. It was on the fifth stumble that he launched himself.

“Oleksandr Usyk only needs two more punches and that’s the end of the fight. It was stolen from him.
