HBO Orders Steve Carell Comedy Series From Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses

A college comedy series starring Steve Carell has landed a 10-episode straight-to-series order from HBO. This half-hour, single-camera project is directed by veteran comedy writer-producer Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso) and Matt Tarses (The Goldbergs) and Warners Bros. Television where the Lawrence’s Doozer and Tarses banners are the subject of global agreements.

Written by Lawrence and Tarses — reunited after working together on Lawrence’s medical comedy Scrubsthe untitled comedy is set on a college campus and focuses on the complicated relationship of an author (Carell) with his daughter.

Carell and Tarses serve as executive producers alongside Lawrence, Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer of Doozer Productions. The series is produced by Doozer in association with Warner Bros. Television.
