Hayden Christensen Welcomes Sidekick Star Amandla Stenberg to Star Wars in Extremely Wholesome Video

We’re one sleep away from the premiere of the upcoming live-action Star Wars series, The Acolyte, on Disney+. To celebrate, Anakin Skywalker (and Darth Vader) actor Hayden Christensen welcomed The Acolyte actress Amandla Stenberg to the Star Wars family in a heartwarming video.

The video, which was shared on the official Star Wars X account (formerly Twitter), is a reaction video of sorts. In it, Amandla does her best to “be cool” as Christensen welcomes her to the Star Wars franchise.

“I just wanted to send you a little message to congratulate you. And I’m very excited for the show, and I wanted to wish you all the best and welcome you to our Star Wars family,” Christensen said in the video.

Christensen concluded his warm welcome by suggesting that the on-screen Sith duo would one day meet in person at a Star Wars celebration event. Naturally star-struck, the former Hunger Games actor responded in kind, thanking Christensen for the warm welcome.

“It means everything to me, because I am so honored to enter this universe. And the path you paved means so much to me,” Stenberg said before playing Christensen saying his name repeatedly.

Star Wars: The Acolyte is an eight-episode crime drama set in the era of the High Republic (AKA the years before the Phantom Menace). It follows the perspective of the Sith in their ongoing battle against the Jedi. Showrunner Leslye Headland described the series as “Frozen meets Kill Bill” with tributes to director Akira Kurosawa and teased the series featuring more Jedi than any other Star Wars movie or TV show. Stenberg – of whom Headland has publicly stated the show was designed with her in mind-will play alongside Lee Jung-Jae, Squid Game actor.

Star Wars: The Sidekick premieres on Disney+ on June 4.
