Hasbro Creates Monopoly Go! Board Game

There is dozens thematic versions of Monopoly — you name a brand or a cultural moment, and I guess there is a Monopoly for this. The latest iteration, released Thursday, is based on Monopoly Go!. Yes, Hasbro makes a Monopoly board game based on its mobile game based on its board game. As weird as it sounds, it makes sense: Developer Scopely and Hasbro announced in March that Monopoly Go! surpassed a staggering $2 billion in revenue just 10 months after the game’s launch.

Scopely CEO Javier Ferreira said in March that more than 8 million people play Monopoly Go! every day of the week; a total of 10 million people play every day. Many games could only dream of such engagement. Monopoly Go! The board game seeks to capture a fraction of that interest, by getting people off their phones and playing on the game board.

In fact, several game boards: Monopoly Go! The board game gives each player their own little Monopoly board — it’s meant for two to four players total — as they race to build the first monument. It’s an iteration of a daily event in Monopoly Go! mobile game called Landmark Rush. The first to stack four landmark blocks on their board wins. There are also bank heists and lock-ups, other events in the mobile game that are designed to knock your opponents off their feet, also tied into the gameplay. It’s basically a very Simplified version of the classic mobile board game. No juggling with money in the bank here!
