Harvey Weinstein begs to leave Rikers Island “Hell Hole” in court

Harvey Weinstein begged a Manhattan judge on Wednesday to have him tried earlier than expected, saying he was not sure that he will live before spring when he was imprisoned in the “Hell Hole” which is the complex from New York prison.

“Every day, I am at Rikers Island, it’s a mystery for me how I always walk,” Weinstein told court when he was sitting in a wheelchair. “I ask you and beg you, your honor, I can no longer hold out. I want because I want justice for myself and I want it to be finished.”

Weinstein should be tried on April 15.

Even thus, Weinstein persisted.

“Please change your case and do it by Clémence,” said Weinstein. “I don’t know how long I can keep.”

He complained that the conditions he risks in prison complicates his medical problems, calling Rikers Island “a medieval situation”.

Weinstein – who has cancer and suffered emergency heart surgery in September – continues New York and his ministry for correction, alleging “medical neglect”.

“I beg the court to move your date so that we can have this date instead and carry out this trial as quickly as possible and get out of this hellish hole,” said Weinstein on Wednesday.

The film producer in disgrace asked to start the trial earlier on April 7, because he said: “Each week counts.”

Farber said he would consider the request.

“If lawyers report to me, they can do it earlier, I will make myself available,” said Farber.

Wednesday, Farber denied Weinstein’s attempt to reject a new accusation of sexual assault by a woman who allegedly alleged that Weinstein had forced her oral sex in a Manhattan hotel in 2006. Weinstein argued that prosecutors have unduly delayed the accusation.

“The dismissal request has denied,” said Farber. “The court inspected the minutes of the Grand Jury and found them sufficient.”

Weinstein will be tried on the new accusation of sexual assault at the same time as he is taken up for two other charges of sexual assault after a previous conviction has been canceled on appeal.
