Harry Kane beamed as he praised Bayern Munich’s “incredible victory” against Arsenal in the Champions League.

Joshua Kimmich headed home in the second half to send Bayern Munich through to the semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate victory – and Arsenal returning to London with their tails between their legs.

It was a particularly special night for Kane and Eric Dier, who had the pleasure of breaking the hearts of Tottenham’s arch-nemesis Arsenal.

“(It was) an incredible victory. It’s been a tough season for us,” Kane told TNT Sports.

“We had to fight and fight at times. We knew we could make a difference to our home fans.

“It was a tough game, a close game. It was a great goal from Josh (Kimmich). Reaching the semi-finals is a big achievement for us and we can enjoy it.

“I think in this kind of match, the first half is always a bit wary. We said at half-time that we wanted to push the pace, be aggressive. We had a few at the post and we could have made it easier for ourselves, but these games are always difficult and you just have to overcome them.

“The objective here is to try to win the Champions League.

“We won the championship 11 years in a row, so maybe it lacked a bit of rhythm (because we didn’t win it this year). That can’t happen. Now we have to enjoy the Champions League and try to prepare for Saturday.

The Champions League represents Kane’s last chance to win a trophy in his first season at Bayern Munich.

Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga to break Bayern’s 11-year hold on the competition.

Bayern were also knocked out of the DFB-Pokal by third division side Saarbrücken.

They will face giants Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final.
