Harry and Meghan’s Archewell charity found guilty of unpaid fees – NBC Chicago

The charity founded by Prince Harry and his wife Meghan has been deemed delinquent in California and cannot raise funds because the state determined that the Archewell Foundation failed to pay its annual registration fee or submit funding. Annual Report.

A source close to Archewell told NBC News that the group’s initial check was lost in the mail but the payment was resubmitted. The problem should be resolved within a few days, the source said.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued a delinquency notice to the Archewell Foundation this month, noting that the organization’s renewal information was incomplete. State records show the foundation’s last renewal was in May 2023 and it was officially marked “delinquent,” meaning the charity cannot raise funds.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled to Nigeria to draw attention to causes they have long supported, including those of wounded veterans. Harry, one of the founding patrons of the Invictus Games, played a game of sitting volleyball with former wounded soldiers during the trip.

The Archewell Foundation was first launched by the couple in 2020, after they stepped down as senior members of the royal family and left the UK. Its mission statement is simply: “Show up, do good.”

“We consciously collaborate with key organizations and leaders to identify immediate needs, create meaningful initiatives, and drive long-term change,” the foundation’s website states.

According to the foundation, it supports programs to support parents, empower girls, advocate for mental health and connect Afghan refugee families with the communities where they have resettled.

Archewell also supports a playground in Uvalde, Texas, in honor of the shooting that killed 19 children at Robb Elementary School.
