Harris visits spice store known for hating and criticizing Republicans, calls for end to ‘division’

Kamala Harris made a campaign stop Saturday at a spice store known for openly discriminating against Republicans while calling for an end to political “division.”

Penzeys Spices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, hosted the Democratic candidate to tour the store and meet with some supporters.

Speaking to a crowd of reporters, Harris said: “It’s time to turn the page on division. It’s time to bring our country together and chart a new course for the future.”

“I think what’s happening, and I was talking to people here in Pittsburgh, is that people are exhausted by the division and the attempts to divide us as Americans,” Harris said. “And the fact that they’ve come forward and made this public statement, I think is courageous.”

“But also for people like the ones I just spoke to, it really reinforces for them the idea that we love our country and that we have more in common than we have differences,” Harris said in the spice shop.

Penzeys Spices has an entire “About Republicans” page on his website with a staggering 842-word essay criticizing the political party.

In contrast, the “About Us” page on Penzeys’ website has just 461 words, including “We try to make the world a better place.”

HARRIS RETURNS TO ANOTHER POLICY POSITION: BANNING PLASTIC STRAWS

Part of their website’s “About Republicans” page, written by CEO Bill Penzey, informs Republicans that they can shop elsewhere: “Going forward, we’d still be happy to have you as customers, but we’re done pretending that the Republican Party’s embrace of cruelty, racism, Covid lies, climate change denial, and threats to democracy aren’t the risks they legitimately pose.”

“If you need us to pretend you are not creating the harm you are creating so that you will continue to be our customer, I am sad to say that you might be happier elsewhere,” reads a statement on the Penzeys Spices website.

Penzeys recently launched an ad campaign for its “Justice” spice blend aimed at former President Donald Trump, with the message: “Reindicted and it feels good!”

“Sorry Kamala, ‘Scary Spice’ is already taken!” former President Trump’s campaign said in response to Kamala’s visit.

Bill Penzey, CEO of Penzeys Spices, is no stranger to controversy. In 2022, he was criticized for renaming Martin Luther King Jr. Day to “Racist Republican Weekend!”

According to the Penzeys Spices Facebook page, the spice brand lost 40,000 followers in January 2022 due to the scam, but has not issued an apology.
