Robert Lewandowski returned from injury to Barcelona against Inter in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, featuring as a late substitute in San Siro.
However, the game went to extension in Italy, which means that Lewandowski ended up playing more than originally, according to Diario Sport.
The veteran also had trouble having an impact on the game, which means that Hansi Flick has not yet decided if he will start against Real Madrid on Sunday in El Clasico.
Sport notes how Flick is “always very prudent” with players returning from an injury and could therefore use Ferran Torres or Dani Olmo as a fake nine against Los Blancos.
The recent Lewandowski injury also made Barcelona think in the longer term. Although it continues for another season, Barça was considering if it could be a good idea to have a “high -level replacement” in the team.
Barcelona knows that the marking goals were not a problem this season, but the option of trying to sign a rescue attacker in the summer transfer window always seems to be back on the table.
