“Handes off!” Anti-Trump protests try to reach the new alarm

Opponents of President Trump are planning demonstrations on Saturday in the 50 states to oppose the president’s attacks and burns against federal health care programs and government employees, a message that says calls to a politically diverse set of Americans.

Mass action, “Hands Off!” Was organized by indivisible, Moveon and several other groups which led demonstrations concerning the rights to abortion, armed violence and racial justice during the first Trump administration. “The demonstrations have been effective in the short term, but in the longer term, unless there is a kind of politically resounding defeat, movements like that of Trump are able to reconstruct themselves and, in this case, to win,” said Erica Chenoweth, a political scientist who studies social movements and non -violent resistance.

The demonstrations on Saturday will surely include signs and discourse on reproductive rights, trans and racial justice. In other respects, events may have little resemblance to the mass demonstrations of Mr. Trump’s first mandate, in particular women’s march on Washington, which has set the tone to resistance.
