Hamas will not respond to the ceasefire proposal from the counter of Israel-News News

Hamas has decided not to respond or to engage with Israel’s counter-proposal for a cease-fire in Gaza, a official told Reuters on Wednesday, saying that he is rather attached to the plan of the mediators.

Israel said that on March 29, he had transmitted mediators a counter-proposition in full coordination with the United States, after Hamas accepted a proposal that she received from the mediators of Egypt and Qatar.

A copy obtained by Reuters on Wednesday showed that the mediators’ proposal was part of the ceasefire agreement on January 17 and prolong the ceasefire for 50 more days.

Negotiations for a second ceasefire phase should be completed before the end of the 50-day period, depending on the copy.

The proposal included the release of Edan Alexander, from New Jersey, a 21-year-old soldier in the Israeli army, the first day after the announcement of the ceasefire.

What was the cease-fire proposal?

Hamas would also publish four Israeli hostages, with a hostage released every 10 days in exchange for the release of 250 Palestinians detained in Israeli prisons and the exit of 2,000 people from those who were detained after the attack on Hamas on October 7 against Israel.

The proposal also led to the cessation of Israeli military operations, opening up level passages to allow the entry of humanitarian aid and the reopening of the netzarim corridor allowing the entrance to cars from south to north and vice versa.

The Israeli army said on March 19 that its forces re -examined their control in the center of the Netzarim corridor, which bisses the Gaza Strip.

The first phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas entered into force on January 19 after 15 months of war and involved fighting, the release of some of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas and the release of certain Palestinian prisoners.

However, Israel said on March 19 that his forces resumed ground operations in the central and southern Gaza band. He also announced on Wednesday a major expansion of military operations in Gaza, saying that large areas of the enclave would be seized and added to its safety zones, accompanied by large -scale evacuations of the population.
