Hamas touts ‘positive spirit’ in ceasefire talks, heads to Cairo

CAIRO — Hamas plans to send a delegation to Cairo “as soon as possible” to continue ceasefire negotiations to end the war in Gaza, the group’s political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, said Thursday.

In a statement issued after a phone call with Egypt’s Intelligence Minister, Major General Abbas Kamel, Haniyeh said the deliberations were moving forward in a “positive spirit.”
