Hamas responds to the proposal for the American ceasefire for Gaza: NPR

Hamas published a statement saying that he had sent mediators for his response to the American proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza on Saturday.

While the militant group claims that he will release 10 living and 18 hostages who died still organized in Gaza, there seem to be other details which must be developed before the ceasefire is declared.

Earlier this week, American Special Envy Steve Witkoff proposed the agreement, which includes a 60-day ceasefire. Israel had accepted Witkoff’s proposal.

But this is not a matter made. Hamas still seeks other requests, according to reports in the Arab and Israeli media. He says he wants a complete withdrawal of Israeli Gaza troops and a permanent end of war.

More than 54,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since the start of the war almost 20 months ago when Hamas activists attacked Israel, killing around 1,200.
