Hamas fires rocket at humanitarian crossing

The Iranian-backed Palestinian terrorist group Hamas fired a rocket on Saturday that struck the Erez Crossing, a border crossing that is a major conduit for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

A red alert was issued at 4:51 p.m. in Netiv Haasara, a town near Gaza’s northern border attacked by Hamas on October 7, 2023 (and which Breitbart News was among the first journalists to enter a month later).

A rocket was fired and hit the border post. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement:

Following the firing of the projectile which fell in the area of the Erez crossing of the Crossings Authority of the Ministry of Defense, impacts were identified which caused damage both in the area of the crossing and next to the humanitarian truck complex.

We highlight that since the beginning of December, more than 1,200 humanitarian aid trucks have entered the Gaza Strip through the Erez crossing point of the Israeli Ministry of Defense Crossings Authority (CPA), containing food, water, medical supplies and shelter materials.

The terrorist organization Hamas systematically violates international law, while exploiting Gaza’s civilian infrastructure and population as human shields for its terrorist activities.

The IDF, through COGAT (Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories), will continue to act in accordance with international law to enable and facilitate the transfer of humanitarian aid to residents of the Gaza Strip.

Hamas also attacked the Erez crossing on October 7, 2023, largely destroying the border crossing through which thousands of Palestinian workers once entered Israel to earn a living.
