Half-Life Project “White Sands” is Under Development at Valve
A Half-Life series-related project known as White Sands is currently in the works, according to rumors circulating online.
As reported by Tyler McVicker, a well-known Valve leaker, based on information extracted from datamined Source 2-powered games like Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2, a new project related to the series and codenamed HLX datamined some time ago is in development. This White Sands project appears to be a PC-only project at the moment, features elements from the Half-Life series, such as an HEV suit charger socket, and will not be a VR project like Alyx. The leaker speculates that this project, which has been in the works for some time, could be Half-Life 3, although there is no evidence at this time to support this hypothesis.
The latest entry in the series is the aforementioned Half-Life Alyx, a VR game that can also be played without a headset thanks to the incredible NoVR mod, which also preserves some of the VR interactions to give players an accurate experience even on a flat screen.
While the Half-Life White Sands project has been in the works for a while, it may be a while before we learn more. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we can, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
