Report of the former Bailey

Marcus Monzo was imprisoned for at least 38 years after a series of attacks which included the murder of Daniel Anjorin, 14, and the attempted murder of three other people last April.
The attacks lasted around 20 minutes, but the court has learned today that the consequences of Monzo’s actions will be felt by the victims for a very long time.
Those who were injured spoke of continuous physical pain and mental trauma. Daniel’s father told court what a gifted, kind and generous child was. No family should have to go through this, he said.
Throughout the procedure, the victims and those who supported them were composed – largely focused on the judge while he transmitted the sentence.
Monzo himself has not shown no visible emotion. Sitting in front of the bench of the quay judge with security agents on each side of him, he kept his eyes especially forward, because he was told of the sentences for each of the ten offenses he had committed.
In a statement outside the court, Dr. Anjorin said that his family had transported Daniel’s light with them during this dark period.
“No verdict or pain can bring back our son Daniel,” he said. “But we are grateful that justice has been done.”
