Hades 2’s first patch makes you faster

Supergiant Games’ roguelike Hades 2 came out in Early Access for a little over a week and a half and it’s been a pretty wonderful time (and terribly hot) time so far. However, some players had difficulty adapting to protagonist Melinoë’s running, as well as her ability to sprint. Luckily for these people, Supergiant Games is already here and Hades 2The first patch primarily addresses speed.

As of today’s patch, Melinoë’s sprint (which seemed a little too slow) has been sped up to make her “naturally faster.” His sprint is also much more responsive, as some players had a bit of trouble turning while running, which I’m sure became a headache in some late game areas that are teeming with things trying to kill you. .

Melinoë’s sprint has also been slightly tweaked so players can exit recovery animations more quickly. It’s not that she would necessarily be stunned by the damage, but I found that she was a little too slow to move away from enemies after being hit. Now she should have the same urgency as I do when pressing the dodge button so as not to lose one of my deadly challenges during an otherwise phenomenal game flow.

The arrival of Melinoë Hades 2 was a not very controversial since it is significantly slower than Zagreus’s the first game. Her momentum leaves a trail that she must recover before she can dash again, which is a pretty drastic change from Zagreus, who was able to dash again pretty instantly. He was even able to collect perks that granted him several more sprints before tiring. While I wouldn’t mind seeing Supergiant tweak Melinoë’s kit, I think this difference mostly makes them unique characters that favor different playstyles. I would hate to see Melinoë’s imprint wiped from the game because of the studio’s responsiveness to feedback.

Speaking of faster, Hades 2the first patch is also speeding up resource collection. The sequel introduces crafting and several different gathering tools that must be unlocked in order to obtain the resources needed to create whatever the game calls for. incantations, which often amplify Melinoë’s abilities and add mechanics and features, such as farming. However, you can only use one resource gathering tool at a time, meaning you have to choose whether you prioritize plants, fish, ores, or other materials for each run. In my experience, a good race resulting in a diabolical confrontation against Chronos at the very end it can take around 40-50 minutes, which means that’s a lot of time without gathering other documents.

NOW, Hades 2 players will be able to collect from any of them resource point they find during a race provided the associated gathering tool is unlocked. So if you have the Shovel or Pickaxe unlocked, you don’t need to equip them to dig up seeds or mine ore respectively. Activating a specific gathering tool will allow you to earn as many resource points as before this patch, while “resources for tools you don’t prioritize will appear much less often,” according to the patch notes.

Elsewhere, Supergiant has released tiny (but sizable) fixes, like showing your currency when you’re in a Charon Well, or repeating the tutorial for Grasp upgrades at the Altar of Ashes. Anecdotally, a friend of mine reached the third region of the game without upgrading his Grasp to have more passive buffs, because he simply didn’t know how to do it. If you have been there, you know that this region is even difficult to live in. with upgrades, and players have reported that the game does a poor job of explaining the system. From this patch, we hope that more players will know how to improve their Grasp and strengthen themselves for their fight with Chronos.

For the full patch notes, which mainly relate to feedback received by the team since launch, check them out. here. Supergiant mentions that once this first patch is complete, it will then work on balance changes, which tells me I’d better get a victory soon before the team nerfs my favorite perks/builds.
