Expect some promotions during the Asian supermarket’s grand opening in Somerville.
The H Mart in Davis Square will open to the public this week, the grocery store chain announced on social media.
Customers will get to peruse the aisles of the Asian supermarket on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 10 a.m, when H Mart is hosting its grand opening.
“New Year, new destinations!” H Mart said on Instagram. “Kicking off 2025 with a wholesome start in Somerville, MA. Join us for the grand opening of H Mart, and make this year unforgettable with fresh finds, delicious flavors, and everything you need on your grocery list!”
Also on social media, the company advertised a few promotions customers could expect on that first day. It includes:
- A free Thermos mug for new and current Smart Card members
- Fried tofu and burdock kimbap for $1 after spending $50
- Fried tofu, burdock kimbap, and strawberry milk for $1 after spending $100
- A complimentary reusable bag after spending $30
The supermarket chain, which sells East Asian groceries as well as home goods, has more than 80 stores in the U.S. and has expanded its footprint in Greater Boston in recent years. An H Mart in Brookline opened in 2023 and Quincy a year before that. The latter location expanded with a food court last year.
A Medford location was reportedly announced in October 2023, according to Cambridge Day, but the location was removed from H Mart’s website several months ago. A statement from H Mart back in November said they didn’t have an update on the Medford store.
