Wayne Rooney has withdrawn from his role as a Match Of The Day pundit after injuring his back on a family holiday.
The Manchester United legend was due to join Gary Lineker on the hit BBC show on Saturday night but was forced to pull out due to a back problem he picked up.

As a result, Lineker was joined by Martin Keown and Micah Richards as they analyzed the matches, including Man United’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth and Newcastle’s emphatic victory against Tottenham.

Responding to Rooney’s post, Lineker said: “There will be other opportunities. Get fit soon,” with a thumbs-up emoji.
Rooney is seeking opportunities to return to management following his dismissal as Birmingham City manager in January this year.
Having previously managed Derby County and DC United, England’s top scorer will hope to make a big impression on his return.
