The Bill Belichick era in Foxborough is long gone.

Nearly five months after the departure of legendary Patriots head coach, first-year coach Jerod Mayo appears to be letting his players enjoy a little more fun on the job than his predecessor would have during practice in June.

Famous rapper Gunna visited Gillette Stadium and joined the team for a practice session on Saturday, as seen on his Instagram story.

The 30-year-old hit the weight room with Patriots players and caught a few passes via a football passing machine on a backfield. Some of Gunna’s tracks could be heard in the weight room while everyone worked out. The artist wore a Patriots practice shirt and shorts that matched the players in the room. As some would say, his IV was too hard.

Gunna seemed to enjoy New England’s weight room, even though the facility was ranked 32nd in the league and received an “F” grade on the team’s most recent report card, which was graded by players earlier This year. The NFL Players Association said players said the quality of the weight room’s equipment and its small size contributed to its low rating.

Since Gunna was pumping iron in the weight room, you might have thought he was playing, but don’t expect him to get a big shot on the court anytime soon. It’s not too easy for a rapper in his thirties to land a spot in the NFL. Don’t expect a three-headed snake of rookie receivers Javon Baker, Ja’Lynn Polk and Gunna to take over the field anytime soon.

After Gunna caught a few quick passes, someone working the throwing machine asked the Patriots head coach this question:

“Where is our 10-day contract, Mayo? he joked.

Add the rapper to a growing list of hip hop artists associated with the New England football team. Rapper Meek Mill has been friends with Patriots owner Robert Kraft since 2018, when the business mogul visited Mill while he was in prison. The two have since spent time together publicly and participated in philanthropic activities.

Maybe Gunna will be the next rapper to join Kraft in the owner’s suite at a Patriots game.
