‘Grimm’ Reboot Movie Set at Peacock From Josh Berman and Original EPs

EXCLUSIVE: A cult favorite supernatural drama is considering a return in film form. Peacock Developing Reboot of 2011 NBC Series Grimmsources tell Deadline. Dead Diva creator Josh Berman is writing the new version, which he is producing with the original series’ creative team, co-creators/executive producers and showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television .

The exact premise of Grimm the film is being kept secret. It is believed to have connections to the series for die-hard fans, but could also be easily accessible by new viewers unfamiliar with the original mythology, as it introduces new mythologies and characters. If successful, the follow-up could launch a franchise, I hear.

The original series followed Portland Homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) who discovered he was a Grimm, the last in a line of guardians sworn to maintain the balance between humanity and creatures mythological.

A discreet show launched on Friday evening, the least attended, Grimm became a breakthrough during the 2011-2012 season. It continued for six seasons on NBC, remaining one of Friday’s highest-rated scripted series, and also performed well internationally for NBCUniversal.

One year later Grimm bowed out, NBC attempted to develop a spin-off centered on a female Grimm, from writer Melissa Glenn, Hazy Mills and Universal TV, with Greenwalt and Kouf as consulting producers.

Berman came on board Grimm after spending 15 years at Sony Pictures TV where he created the hit comedy-drama Dead Divaaired on Lifetime for six seasons. He also co-created The mafia doctor for Fox, Famous for ABC, and Return to the murder house for Quibi/Roku. Additionally, his company produced the Max series. Chronicles of Gordita. He is replaced by Verve and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller. Greenwalt is at IAG, Kouf is at WME, Hazy Mills is repped by UTA.
