New York – Earlier this week, Griffin Canning was too sick to throw. Thursday evening, he was back to being the best version of himself.
Canning gave a start of quality in the 4-1 victory of the dishes on the cardinals, bouncing from the disease to hold Saint-Louis to a race on six rounds at Citi Field. In terms of gaming score, it was the second best outing of a starter of the food this season, behind only the gem of seven rounds from Kodai Senga in West Sacramento last weekend.
A little fragile early, Canning traveled two strikers during the first round and fell for a race during the third on the Brendan Donovan RBI. But he was untouchable after that. After the single of Alec Burleson’s head in the fourth round, Canning withdrew the last nine strikers he faced.
Mark Venos led the second with a home run for the food, who ended up scoring four times in the round. It was the whole offense that the can need.
