Willie Mason has slammed Paul Kent for ‘acting like he’s 18’ after reacting to ‘hilarious’ footage which went viral over the weekend.

The Fox Sports commentator was suspended from his role on NRL360 on Sunday after footage showed Kent, 54, fighting with a younger man outside Rozelle’s upmarket venue Totti’s in Sydney’s inner west , Saturday night.

Kent, who was previously fired from the network for nine months after being accused of assaulting and strangling his ex-girlfriend, was only reinstated as the show’s co-host in February after being acquitted by the court.

A 35-year-old man was charged on Sunday as police investigations into the incident continue.

Mason added his name to a number of football personalities to weigh in on the episode, which he described as “hilarious”.

Following the alleged incident on Saturday evening, Kent was visited by his friend John Elias and four others at his home in Lilyfield, in Sydney’s west, on Sunday morning. – just moments after the announcement of the journalist’s suspension.

Elias, 60, is a former professional footballer and rugby league coach who played for clubs in Sydney, Brisbane, England and France in the 1980s and 1990s.

During his career he played for numerous teams including the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Western Suburbs Magpies, Eastern Suburbs Roosters and Balmain Tigers.

However, he began living a double life as he turned to crime off the field, leading to him being imprisoned several times, including for firearms and drugs offences.

He was jailed for nine months in 1995 after pleading guilty in the NSW District Court to two counts of supplying amphetamines and spent four years in prison after a jury found him convicted in 2004 of shooting a man in the leg.

Elias was also given a suspended sentence in 2014 after being found guilty of threatening a confectionery seller by phoning him to warn “there would be consequences” if Cadbury Schweppes did not make a ” good deal” to his associates.
