And Xhaka certainly made it a memorable appearance should he leave in the coming weeks as fired in a double at the Emirates.
His first came in the 11th minute when he headed in Gabriel Jesus’ cross, before he reacted fastest to a stray ball in the box to drive it into an empty net shortly afterwards.
The Swiss international now has nine goals in all competitions this season – his highest in a single season.
His teammates celebrated jubilantly with him after each strike, with the Arsenal faithful signing his chant in unison around the stadium.

And those who weren’t present took to social media to urge Arsenal to think twice before cashing in on the player.
One Twitter user said: “Keep Xhaka and we’ll win the Prem next year.”
Another commented, “Don’t sell Xhaka, keep it! Cancel this deal.”
A third added: “Can we go ahead and keep Xhaka next year too??”
