Grandmother of missing Logansport teen speaks out about his disappearance

When Cheryl Wright picked Bryson up in Toledo at her daughter’s request, she said he had a black eye, a fat lip and a swollen face.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police issued a Silver Alert Friday for the missing son of former Colts player Daniel Muir.

Investigators say 14-year-old Bryson Muir was last seen leaving his grandmother’s house near Cleveland about two weeks ago.

When Cheryl Wright picked up Bryson in Toledo at her daughter’s request, she said he had a black eye, a big lip and a swollen face.

“He just said his dad did it, but he wasn’t mad, but he wasn’t mad at his dad. He told me he deserved it and it was OK,” Wright said. “So I told him that wasn’t the case and that no one should beat their children like that, not if they love them. »

Friday evening, 13News reporter Chase Houle spoke to Wright on the phone for about 15 minutes about her daughter, Kristen, her son-in-law Daniel and what she believes happened to her grandson.

“I just want to find Bryson. I want to make sure he’s okay,” Wright pleaded.

Wright said the day she picked up Bryson, there were three people in the car — his mother, his father and a man she didn’t know.

But only Bryson drove nearly two hours home to Cleveland with her.

“She just told me I had to come pick him up and since it’s an ongoing matter, I don’t want to say everything that happened during our conversation, but she just told me I had to come look for it,” Wright said.

After just a few days, Wright said Bryson was picked up by her mother, father and an adult man, but not before she called police.

Wright said that three or four minutes after they left, a police officer stopped them, but Bryson was not in the car.

“So what could have happened to Bryson in the three or four minutes you think,” Houle asked.

“Sir, the only thing the police told me was that they probably put him in another vehicle and that car drove off,” Wright replied.

As of Friday afternoon, Indiana State Police said Kristin and Daniel Muir are no longer cooperating with investigators. On Friday morning, state police said the Muirs walked out of a meeting with police to which they were supposed to bring Bryson.

“I think Bryson is somewhere else and they just don’t want to bring him back, maybe they don’t want the police to see his face. I think it’s been almost two weeks now, but I’m sure those injuries are still there,” Wright said.

Houle called and texted numbers that presumably belonged to Daniel and Kristin, but never received a response.
