- Christine, 73, was horrified when she found her garden flooded with filthy water.
A grandmother’s garden was flooded with raw sewage after a build-up of wet wipes caused a blockage in the sewer system.
Christine, 73, was horrified when she found her precious garden flooded with filthy water with dirty wet wipes and sanitary napkins all over her lawn.
She contacted utility company Welsh Water who sent a team of workers to her home to investigate and clean up the damage.
They discovered the flooding was caused by wet wipes and sanitary napkins blocking a drain and causing a sewer hole in her garden to overflow.
Christine, who lives in Aberdare, south Wales, is now pleading with people to stop flushing wet wipes, nappies and sanitary towels down the toilet, to prevent other people from suffering the same test.

The flooding was caused by wet wipes and sanitary napkins blocking a drain, which then flooded her garden.
Christine said: “I woke up in the morning to the devastation of my garden caused by sewage.
“I was shocked to see how much damage had covered my entire garden.
“I was upset and angry and couldn’t believe how much raw sewage had overflowed onto my property.
“Among the wastewater, I also saw wipes and sanitary napkins.
Christine said contractors removed contaminated gravel from a path and cleaned and repainted a fence affected by the flood.
She added: “My garden is my pride and joy, and I spend a lot of time gardening and enjoying my space, especially on the warmer days.
“When I realized this flood was caused by other people throwing away things they shouldn’t throw away, I was angry and frustrated.
“I couldn’t believe they thought it was acceptable.”
“To all those who are still throwing wipes in the flush: stop!
“Don’t flush anything other than the three Ps – pee, poop and (toilet) paper – down the toilet.
“Sanitary napkins, wet wipes and diapers should all go in the trash.”

Ed Bennett, wastewater networks manager at Welsh Water, said: “Unfortunately, these types of situations are an everyday occurrence for us at Welsh Water.
“Our colleagues are working around the clock to clear blockages in our sewer systems that could easily be avoided if customers stopped treating their toilets like trash.
“It only takes one wet wipe to cause a nasty blockage that can lead to sewage flowing back into your home. This can be very painful and upsetting and is also expensive to repair.
“We urge all customers to only flush the three Ps down the toilet: pee, poo and paper.”
