“Grand Theft Auto 6” is scheduled for release in fall 2025

Grand Theft Auto VIthe latest installment in the hit video game franchise, will be released in fall 2025, parent company Take-Two Interactive has confirmed.

The release news put a narrower range on the release, which was previously scheduled for 2025. The update came as Take-Two reported better-than-expected earnings. Despite optimistic financial results, the RGT This news caused a slight sell-off in the company’s shares, as the game’s release will come after fiscal 2025. Due to this timing, the company lowered its guidance for the full year. Shares fell 3% after hours, to around $142.

“We are confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unprecedented entertainment experience, and our expectations for the title’s commercial impact continue to rise,” said Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two.

Grand Theft Auto V has sold over 200 million units, grossing billions since its release in 2013. Overall, the franchise is one of the biggest commercial draws in gaming and any part of the universe media and entertainment. The first iteration was made for MS-DOS and Windows in 1997 before migrating to other platforms.

Because of the franchise’s longevity, even deals involving small parts of the empire carry weight, as was the case recently when Netflix announced it had acquired three mobile devices.
