Grand National 2024 prize money: How much is up for grabs and how much will winner earn from Britain’s most iconic horse race

The 2024 Grand National is just around the corner, meaning one lucky owner stands to pocket a significant amount of cash this weekend.

Not only is this race one of the most iconic, but it is also extremely lucrative.

It is a race that creates legendary horses and jockeys due to its prestige and its history.

And as we prepare for the latest incarnation, the next set of heroes are waiting to be revealed.

Grand National 2024: Prize money

There will be a total of £1million up for grabs at this year’s Grand National.

The top ten will all claim a share of the prize money, with the winner pocketing £561,300.

Second place receives £211,100 and third takes home £105,500.

How much do jockeys earn?

Jockeys often win only a small percentage of each prize pool, between eight and nine percent.

If they place, they also take a portion of the money won, but this is usually only around 3.5 percent.

There is also a standard fee for entry and for obstacle courses, set at £164.74.

Grand National 2024: Date and how to follow

The Grand National will take place on Saturday April 13.

The race at Aintree will start at 4 p.m.
