GOP ‘don’t care about succeeding’, only here to destroy Democrats

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) claimed on MSNBC’s “All In” on Friday that Republicans were “not concerned about success” because they were elected to Congress to “destroy” the Democratic Party.

Discussing the COVID aid bills, host Chris Hayes said, “Are you confident a majority in the House under Kevin McCarthy can do it? Should there be a national emergency like this? When the chips are down, to deliver this sort of thing on a bipartisan basis? »

Waters said: “I’m worried. I’m concerned because in their caucus, in the Republican caucus, you have people who are associated with QAnon and the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys and those are people who don’t care about succeeding. They are afraid to try to dismantle the Democratic Party, to destroy the Democratic Party, and they will do anything. In fact, I am absolutely worried about our democracy. I fear that when the former President of the United States says that the Constitution of the United States must be derogated from in some way, it is serious business. And, of course, we went through January 6, and we went through an insurrection. What bothered me so much was that the other side of the aisle often talked about patriotism, and they love the flag, and they were more patriotic than anyone else but looking at what s happened, I’m stunned. And I’m shocked that they support those who invaded our capital, stand up and say, “Oh, that wasn’t an invasion of the Capitol, that wasn’t an insurrection.” It’s just protesters, you know, doing the job of a democracy. They have the right to do that. I’m still in shock from it all. »
