Android glasses XR

Google I / S 2025, like the few years before, has plunged deep into AI and the different ways of which it is integrated through the products and services of the research giant. Among the recipients is Android XR, the extensive reality operating system of Google which underlies the category of emerging products of helmets and intelligent glasses.

Android XR was unveiled for the first time last December, but the company mainly covered the general software experience for XR and VR headsets. In fact, Google presented most of its spatial computer functionalities on a helmet it created with Samsung and Qualcomm, the code name Coded Project Moohan. We expect to learn more about this project later this year.

At IS / O this week, Google has moved its concentration on XR Android glasses, daily portable devices that can take advantage of cameras, microphones and speakers to interpret what you see and help with Gemini. Many large technological companies, including Meta and Apple, share this same vision of portable devices, but Google can have the upper hand.

This is because we have already seen how Gemini work in the multimodal sense, with Gemini Live in interaction and communication with you as if he was looking at the world of your phone camera.

With Android XR and a configurable in-lens display, Google has demonstrated how users can draw a directional system when browsing the city streets, similar to the way HUD screens operate on certain cars.

You will also be able to visualize incoming text messages and respond, translate conversations in real time and capture photos via vocal controls, reducing the friction to remove your phone from your pocket.

Google says that its Android XR glasses will operate in tandem with your phone, whether attached to the device or wireless torque, to synchronize contacts, messages, notifications, etc.

Also: your Android devices get several upgrades for free – including a big for auto

This integration should considerably reduce the power load and, above all, the weight of the glasses, as most of the computer is executed and managed from your phone.

Ray-Ban intelligent glasses

Meta hugged Essilorluxottica to release the Ray-Ban intelligent glasses a few years ago.

To attract a wider audience, Google is associated with brands of popular glasses like Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to create more elegant smart glasses. This strategy is similar to Meta, which is associated with Essilorluxottica to create and market the Ray-Ban intelligent glasses.

As for what we can expect from the Android XR glasses to arrive on the market, Google says they will come later this year.
