The account menu was the last non-Hardware 3 Expressive aspect of Google Messages and it has now been updated.

Like all other Google apps, tapping the account avatar in the upper right corner now opens a full-screen page instead of an overlay that lets you see the app’s top bar and about two conversations at the bottom.

The first grouping under “More from this app” allows you to access your profile, archived, spam and blocked, mark everything as read and device pairing. Then there’s Your Data in Messages, Message Settings, and Help & Feedback, with M3 Expressive containers leveraged.

The account switcher at the top is the same as other first-party apps and is pretty useless in Google Messages.

We’re seeing this redesigned account menu rolling out widely with Google Messages 20250922_00_RC00+ in both the stable and beta channels.

Meanwhile, Google Contacts was another holdout that was updated with a last sync indicator and settings. To complete this family of applications, Phone by Google does not have a Google account selector.

The vast majority of Google applications now have the account menu, with the deployment of Gemini in recent days. One big exception is the Pixel-exclusive apps (although My Pixel has that) and the Play Store, although that’s coming soon.
