Google Home working to fix blurry Nest Cam and Doorbell live streaming issues

Over the past few weeks, Nest Cams and Doorbells have suffered from blurry/low-resolution live streams, and Google is working on a fix.

Since mid-June, some Nest Cam and Doorbell owners have noticed blurry live feeds in the Google Home app. Recorded videos are perfectly clear and maintain the same quality. The difference between live and recorded footage is stark.

Not all users are affected, although some report that the stream becomes clearer over time. Internet speed is not a factor, although this issue seems to particularly affect Nest Doorbell owners. It appears to be a server side issue.

Google today acknowledged an “issue that is causing some Nest camera and doorbell users to experience lower quality video when live streaming in the Home app.” The company is “actively working on a fix and will deploy it as soon as possible.”
