Goodwill of Silicon Valley opening its first outlet store in San Jose

Goodwill from the CEO of Silicon Valley, Christopher Baker, is very enthusiastic about the new Goodwill Outlet store opening on May 2 in San Jose.

“It’s a double advantage,” said Baker, who has been with Goodwill de la Silicon Valley for 15 years and took first place last August. Buyers, he said, will get an even better price than in regular retail stores. Without forgetting, this also prevents more discharges. It is a triple advantage if we consider that the good desire for additional income can resume its job training programs.

So, how is a goodwill outing different from one of its regular stores? Like regular stores, customers can buy clothes, books, household items and electronics – but instead of store style purchases, everything in the store store is sorted in bins and sold by the book. Furniture items will also be available in the store store at special prices and not in weight.

Articles including clothing, household items and media are sorted in bins for buyers of the new Goodwill Outlet store in San Jose, which has its large opening scheduled for Friday May 2, 2025. (Grav of good will of Silicon Valley)

Baker told me that goodwill treated around 40 million pounds of items given each year. All this is not suitable for the retail store in Goodwill, but instead of being thrown, these items will now go to the store store. Goodwill has a four -week cycle for retail articles, and items that are not sold after a month will also go to the point of sale.

While other goodwill organizations in the Bay region have recently been the subject of a difficult era, Baker said that Goodwill de la Silicon Valley was financially strong. This year, he bought a new building for its head office on Technology Drive in North San Jose and plans to rent certain floors to non -profit organizations with similar missions.

The Goodwill Outlet store is at 1685 Tully Road, at the intersection with King Road, and will be opening at 10 a.m. Friday, with remarks by Baker, the member of the Municipal Council of San Jose, the member of the San Jose Board of Directors, well Doan and Christina Bui, president of the Tully Road Eastridge Business Association.

A clever weekend: The monthly walk of the South First Friday is back this week in downtown San Jose, and this will be a great opportunity to consult the Latinx of this year now! Exhibition of art auctions at the Macla Gallery, 510 S. First St. The Exhibition presents the work of more than 30 artists, and everything will be auction on May 17. Get more information on the auction on www.maclaarte.org and obtain the full program of the South First Fridays at www.southfirsfridays.com.

There will also be creativity for the eyes and ears in Saratoga this weekend. The 66th annual art exhibition at Saratoga Rotary will return to West Valley College on Saturday and Sunday, with sculptures, paintings, photographs and mixed arts on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. There will also be a lot of live music to support art. Get more details on www.saratugarotaryartshow.org.

And on Sunday, there will be wonderful sounds at the episcopal church of Saint Andrew in Saratoga, where the acclaimed pianist Katya Grineva will perform in the church’s first series of concerts on his Piano Grand Bosendorfer Imperial. The church received a subsidy from the Valley Foundation to acquire the instrument, which is the only one in a place of South Bay. Tickets for the concert at 4 p.m. are $ 25, but anyone under the age of 16 is free. Go to www.st- Andrews-saratoga.org for tickets.

And they left: Kentucky derby fans can flock San Jose fairs at Santa Clara County Fairgrounds on Saturday to watch the Triple Crown race. The Derby Day celebrations start at 8:30 am and will include a competition for the best hat, mint juleps and food specials on the theme and, of course, you can also bet on the race of 3:57 pm. Parking in the lot is free, but do not forget to leave the children at home – you must be at least 18 years old to enter.
