Bucky McMillan led the high school basketball team at Mountain Brook five years ago.
Today, he is the most recent coach of the most difficult league in the country for university hoops.
Bucky Ball passes Samford to Texas A&M, and I can’t wait to see how McMillan’s approach to the game influences the dry. How will he adjust his system? Will the conference be forced to adapt to its frantic basketball brand? How long before Bucky Ball puts on the Final Four?
No pressure.
Well, in fact, yes, there will be pressure, and tons.
Bucky Ball is known for its relentless use of the complete press combined with an analytical approach to the new age of the game. It’s fun to watch and Texas A&M will absolutely love the passion and charisma of McMillan. It is a perfect fit for Texas A&M and its culture. McMillan is the son of a retired judge. It is demanding, meticulous, relentless, loyal and brilliant.
In other words, Texas A&M and Alabama will have epic shootings over the next two years.
McMillan confirmed for me by SMS last night that he would be the new coach of the Texas A & M Aggies. He replaces coach Buzz Williams, who is the new coach of Maryland.
Given the Nile War war breast of Texas A&M and the new changes to come to university basketball next week, do not be surprised when McMillalan begins to steal recruits in rival programs in the dry. The players know and respect all McMillan, who won five state titles at Mountain Brook before going to Di.
McMillan transformed Samford into a socon champion despite his hiring at the start of the COVVI-19 pandemic. I am still angry that the Bulldogs get to work by the referees against Kansas in the first round of the 2024 NCAA tournament, but McMillan impressed a lot of people this weekend and that led to his opportunities in Texas A&M.
Familiar readers with my chronicles on McMillan in recent years have already known that I am in no way surprised by its rapid ascent in the dry. I have believed in McMillan from the start.
McMillan is heading for Texas A&M, five years a day since left Mountain Brook for Samford. Here is what I wrote five years ago when Bucky Ball made the high school jump to the college: “” Bucky Ball “will be a national brand when everything is finished. This is my prediction.”
Prepare. It happens.
McMillan’s move to College Station begins at a critical moment in the evolution of college athletics. From next week with the planned regulations of House c. NCAA, university programs across the country will begin to share income with players. The salary ceiling across the country should be $ 20.5 million for a whole department of athletics. It is in schools how they want to spend this money, but boosters and schools can always use zero wealth to soften offers for the best talents.
McMillan will arrive in Texas A&M with a plan to win immediately and we already know that the Aggles will spend desperate amounts of money to get there.
Do not be surprised if McMillan is making his first huge splash this weekend during the Final Four.
Objective No. 1 of the transfer portal is YAXEL LENDEBORG. He is the former UAB player who led the Blazers to the AAC 2024 tournament championship. Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky and Michigan have all been linked to Landeborg, who is also becoming a possible draft choice.
Lendeborg in Texas A&M? Texas A & M certainly has the money to fill the changing rooms of McMillan with talents, so do not belong to the Aggies.
The dry is filled with the best coaches of university basketball. It takes a huge amount of courage and confidence to make the jump in this reservoir of bloodthirsty sharks. These are professional sports but without the annoying rules. Can McMillan go aside with Bruce Pearl in Auburn, Nate Oats in Alabama, Rick Barnes in Tennessee, Todd Golden in Florida, Mark Pope in Kentucky, John Calipari in Arkansas, Chris Beard in Ole Miss, Sean Miller in Texas and, outside the conference but nearby, Kelvin Sampson in Houston?
Can Bucky Ball win in the dry?
You already know what I think. Bucky Ball was designed for dry.
I will never doubt McMillan, and especially not in Texas A&M.
McMillan is the aberrant value of the dry, as is its new school. He is different and he likes it like that. He is daring and undoubtedly, he will be a success at midnight.
Bucky McMillan began to train basketball even before a Birmingham-Southern graduate. He was done for this moment, he was molded by basketball in Birmingham and he always bet on himself.
