Goldman Sachs hires someone to manage their fleet of private jets

When most people think of jobs at Goldman Sachs, they probably think that the investment banker firing one night on a merger or the wealth manager closing a new account.

Now, the company makes wheels on a completely different type of role: someone to help manage its fleet of private jets.

According to a employment post On the Goldman website, the investment bank seeks to hire a partner to help whip senior executives, such as CEO David Solomon, business meetings and other events using the company’s private aviation. The publication occurs while the bank of Wall Street sets up its annual ritual of affective cutter and envisages Potential reductions to its population of vice-presidentAmong other measures to reduce Code-code Project Voyage Code-Code.

According to the list, the new rental is based in New York and receive a basic salary between $ 100,000 and $ 160,000. Previously, the position provided for a vice-president whose salary would have taken place between $ 125,000 and $ 250,000. After BI contacted Goldman about the position, the bank changed the role to the rank of paid partner.

“We thank the Business Insider team for using your 20th article on the Goldman Sachs corporate plane to help us attract the best talents for this role,” a spokesman for Goldman Sachs said in a BI statement.

In 2019, the year after Solomon took office as CEO of the bank, Goldman bought two private planes: a Gulfstream G280 and a G650er. At the time, the bank determined that the possession of its jets would be more profitable than the reservation of private flights via Netjets, a fractional ownership service, as previously reported Bi.

In 2023, the company deleted its intention to buy a third plane in the middle of a thrust and a cost reduction examination on the use of jets by Solomon. Solomon had used planes for certain personal flights, including visiting his house in the Bahamas, Daakin Campbell de Bi’s reported.

Earlier this month, the Goldman board of directors said in a proxy That he expects his CEO – and his president and chief of the operation John Waldron – use his jets for travel and personal affairs.

“The main use of our corporate planes is to facilitate business,” said the company, adding: “Our CEO and COO should use our business planes, including for personal travel, for security reasons, as well as to maximize the efficiency of their travel time and their availability for business companies.”

The new partner will be part of the integrated business aviation service team within the Executive Office, a division that includes units such as marketing, business communications and certain philanthropic and public programs. He is led by Russell Horwitz, the bank chief of the bank.

So … is the concert one for you? Before completing your seat belt and typing the intercom for a glass of champagne, it is important to know that this role seems to be based on the ground – not in a tilted soft leather chair in the air, enjoying a view of the wings.

According to the employment post, this partner will be focused on tasks such as the abolition “of operations and financial monitoring of the company’s executive aviation program, including the interests of aircraft and fractional aircraft of the company”. The person will assemble reports, carry out accounting activities and develop policies and procedures relating to the aviation program. They will also “help all operational aviation questions”, such as ensuring that planes are available when managers need to take a look.

The ideal candidate should have at least five years of experience in a “business aviation team environment,” added the position.

Here are some other attributes that the bank is looking for:

  • Be a “enthusiastic and hardworking” member of the team who is “able to work well under pressure”
  • High -level communication skills
  • Knowing how to work your magic in Microsoft Excel and create original presentations

So, if you don’t mind the logistical work and you have a meaning for trains (or planes) to work in time – then, who knows? The sky may well be the limit.
