Three months after tying the knot in a live televised ceremony, the couple whose story captured America’s hearts on The Golden Bachelor are divorcing, they confirmed on April 12 Hello America.

The news comes as Theresa and Gerry, despite their January wedding, were living apart. They have not shared any further information about their separation at this time.

The former couple’s romance began on Bachelor Nation’s first edition of The Golden Bachelorwhere Gerry was cast as the leading man looking for love after his wife Tony deceased. And after finishing the season engaged, Theresa, 70, and Gerry, 72, became the first Bachelor couple gets married on television, the ceremony being presided over by the host Jesse Palmer.

During the ceremony, the couple shared loving vows, including a nod to where their story began, with a date in a retro convertible that ended with milkshakes and fries in a restaurant.

“We laugh until we cry,” Theresa shared. “We face many challenges, including a near-death experience on the California highway. I promise to be your calm in the storm, but most importantly to have fun for the rest of the days we have left on this earth.”
