DETROIT (WXYZ) – Sam Menzin, deputy director general of the Detroit Tigers, resigned last week in the middle of an investigation into his workplace, according to The Athletic.
Athletics published a report on Monday which said that the team had planned to dismiss him for bad behavior, but Menzin resigned first.
According to the report, athletics spoke to two former Tigers employees who declared that Menzin had sent them unsolicited photos of his genitals on Snapchat. The report indicates that the two women have received the images several times dating from 2017, and that there is a third woman who works in baseball but not for the tigers who have received unlined photos.
In a declaration in Wxyz, the Tigers said: “By having been informed of the allegations concerning the conduct of Sam Menzin, the club quickly finished an investigation. Before the club could end Mr. Menzin, it resigned. This type of behavior is contrary to our standards and will do absolutely no place in our organization. We have a positive and safe culture for our colleagues and will continue to underline respect.
Menzin told Athletic that he was looking for a career change and moved to New York to manage the “family problems” but did not respond to requests for comments on Monday, according to The Athletic.
The 34 -year -old man was with the team for more than a decade, working as an intern in 2012 and finally moved into the role of assistant GM.
