Gloria Steinem wants to live after 100, does not regret not having children

Gloria Steinem would not mind being one of the oldest women in the world.

The writer and activist, 90, recently sat with Bobbi Brown to appear as the first guest of the new YouTube series of the legend of beauty “I am me”, which launched Thursday.

During their discussion, Steinem thought about his life in the eyes of the public, the evolution of the empowerment of women and his feelings about jumping maternity and aging.

Regarding the last subjects, the author said that she was satisfied in both areas.

When Brown asked Steinem who would carry her inheritance, the activist replied: “Many, many, many people” – modern artists whom she admires to parents.

Steinem said that single mothers, in particular, inspire it. She believes that a “huge” factor in her success over the years is that she has never been responsible for raising it from children – giving her time to focus only on herself and her work.

“Regrets about this?” Asked Brown.

“No, no, absolutely not,” said Steinem. “I do not know why, except perhaps because when I grew up, I was dealing with my mother, who was not going well. I noticed that other people who were small people taking care of large people do not want to start again.”

She also said she would “maybe“Describe yourself as a big sister of the women’s empowerment movement but would never give in the title of her mother.

“I have never been a mother,” she said.

On the subject of aging, Steinem said that she was comfortable with herself in her ninth decade and that she is delighted to age.

“I am 90 years old. Hello?” Steinem told Brown. “I looked up to find the oldest woman in the world, and I found a woman who is 130, so -called – I therefore have a goal.”

The activist also said that not working from a daily office her “constraint” to look regularly in the mirror. When she does, however, she is not surprised or disturbed by what she sees.

“I don’t care to age, except that I love it here, and I don’t want to leave,” said Steinem.

In an email in Business Insider, Brown said that helping women to love has always been an essential element in his career – from the launch of his first name makeup line to his current beauty business, Jones Road.

With this series, she wants to go further and show that “success does not come easily”.

“We are all faced with challenges, no matter how perfect things are,” said Brown. “The message is simple: the best thing you can do is be yourself.”

And she learns this lesson herself from each guest of her show.

“We all have our difficulties and our fights with self -doubt,” said Brown. “The key is the way we go beyond the challenges and choose to move forward with vision and confidence. I learned to consider obstacles as opportunities – and each of the inspiring women on` `am me ” has their own stories about how they arrived.”
