While making an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Close took part in the show’s popular “Plead the Fifth” segment, during which the Bravo host asked her, “Who has been your best onscreen kiss?”
The 77-year-old film star barely hesitated to give an answer, closing her eyes for a moment before answering with, “Robert Redford. In The Natural.”
But unfortunately for the Fatal Attraction star, it was a short-lived moment.
“I only got to kiss him once,” she said, while Cohen, 56, asked, “Only one take?”
“Maybe we did two takes,” she replied. “But I also threw him out of my apartment in that movie.”
“But I ended up with him,” she said with a smirk, referring to Redford’s character in the 1984 sports film, Roy Hobbs, who lives happily ever after with Close’s character Iris Gaines by the end of the movie.
“And you got an Oscar nomination,” Cohen added to Close, who was up for Best Supporting Actress that year.
During her tea spilling session on WWHL, Close was also asked about the eight Oscar nominations she’s received in her career, none of which have resulted in a win. (In addition to The Natural, Close’s nominations include her roles in Fatal Attraction, The World According to Garp, The Big Chill, Dangerous Liaisons, Hillbilly Elegy, Albert Nobbs and The Wife.)
For his next question, Cohen asked which of her nominated roles she believes was most deserving of a win, to which she perfectly replied, “All of them!”
