Glasgow Warriors 43 Leicester 19: Franco’s Men innovates with demolition work on tigers

Glasgow broke their glass ceiling as they controlled Leicester to win their very first equality of direct elimination of the Champions Cup.

The Warriors recovered from a slow start to carefully dominate the last competition, with the two half-time of the tigers who try little consolation with the result already in the bag.

The task, however, becomes even more difficult for the men of Franco Smith as they head towards Dublin to face a side of Leinster who beat the Harlequins earlier during the day. But Glasgow will move at least there with confidence after taming the tigers in this unilateral competition.

Smith, always the perfectionist, was not fully satisfied, believing that his players should have made their domination with more points on the dashboard.

But he estimated that the period at the start of the second half when the Warriors landed three rapid succession trials proved to be the definition.

The head coach said: “ I am obviously delighted with the result and the good rugby, but we left a few points there. I think we were not as clinical as we could have been in the first half against the Lions a few weeks ago. So that’s what excites me. We can always improve our current performance.

The first half of Sione Vailanu Try paved the way for a victory that will live for a long time in the spirit of the Warriors fans

“I think we came out and applied good pressure from the restart. Our move has worked.

“But we fully used some of the opportunities that clearly extended the difference in points on the dashboard, which obviously created a little pressure on them.

“A large part of the hard work was done in the first half, where we continued to stay in the 22nd and decompose it.”

Leicester had actually started his intention and had a score with only two minutes on the clock. Their Maul seemed to have been interrupted by a coarse Glasgow while defending, but the pack broke out allowing Olly Cracnel to stretch for the line.

If it was the glove thrown in Warriors, they picked it up, then some, dominating the rest of the game.

Leicester seemed to have survived a prolonged pressure period as their number of sanctions rose. Another transgression, however, turned out to be expensive. Jack Van Poortvliet knew what he was doing when he was holding out a hand and was shown a yellow card for a deliberate hand.

Glasgow did not drag before capitalizing. They appreciated a luck when Johnny Matthews overturned the alignment, but Adam Hastings was alert on the occasion when he picked up a pass to Henco Ventter. The South African has spotted a gap and made their way.

The warriors were in mind at this stage and quickly had their second try. They received a lot of joy at a melee time and, when they won one against the head, Sione Vailanu freed himself from the back to make his way, fracting Salomone Kata out of her way to the line.

Leicester was fogging up and maybe the chance of not sending a second player to sin when Emeka Ilione established contact with Matthews.

The TMO, however, had a glance and estimated that there was no unfair game, while Matthews left for an assessment of the head injuries (HIA) and did not return, Smith explaining that the whore does not promote new bottles with integrated technology.

“It’s difficult because of the gum shields they wear,” he added. “He doesn’t wear it. Therefore, he does not qualify for the HIA process. The thing makes him sick. The protectors are a little thicker because there is a chip. So you have to get used to this. And he fights. I can understand this.

Glasgow continued to push to stretch their lead and only another brilliant tackle last Adam Radwan on Jamie Dobie prevented the winger from getting to Horne.

Leicester’s indiscipline began to annoy the Welsh referee Craig Evans and Scotland Cam Cam Henderson was a yellow card. Hastings called on his tee to add three other points in total of Glasgow.

The pressure did not show any signs of slowdown after the reversal while the Warriors claimed their third trial of the match to stretch their advance. Once again, he came from the fray, Ventle freed himself before being arrested and Vailanu taking the stick to mark his second in the match of a matter of Yards.

The game switched to Glasgow and two other trials in the space of so many minutes have almost confirmed the victory.

The man of the match Henco Ventter finished with two tries and a brilliant medal for his collection

The first went to Hastings. Kyle Steyn stopped near the line while he was trying to score in the area, but Horne was alert on the occasion while he zipped a pass inside to Hastings.

The half–meat obtained the second itself after being launched by the powerful burst of Kyle Rowe in the middle.

Leicester seemed beaten at this stage, but obtained their second score when Kata died after a good game by her attackers before Hanro Liebenberg won the third visitors to make him more respectable on the score.

But Glasgow had the last word when the seller of the man of the match put himself testing No. 6, to the amazement of Michael Cheika, the chief coach defeated of Leicester.

“I always scratch my head on how the score was what it was, to be honest,” said the Australian. “I thought we were much more in the battle of my feeling in the game.
