Yates won the title of three minutes 56 seconds on Isaac Del Toro from Mexico, with Richard Carapaz of Ecuador 47 seconds further back in third.
Del Toro, 21, won the white jersey of the best young rider, Mads Pedersen from Denmark said that the Mauve and Lorenzo Fortunato point classification jersey took the classification jersey of the Blue Mountains.
This is the second title of the Grand Tour de Yates after his victory in the Vuelta A Espana 2018.
He is only the second British male cyclist to win several major visits after Chris Froome, who won seven.
Yates is the third British rider to win the Giro, after Froome (2018) and Tao Geoghegan Hart (2020).
His victory occurs seven years after a dramatic collapse in the 2018 Giro when he led the race for 13 days to crack when Froome took the lead with an astonishing long -range attack two days from Rome.
Yates returned to the Giro in search of victory in the next four consecutive years, but failed, his best third place in 2021.
After a two -year break from the race, during which he finished a fourth career summit in the Tour de France in 2023, Yates finally won the Giro during his sixth attempt.
He is about to roll this year in support of teammate Jonas Vingegaard, who aims for a third title of tour.
This is the first season of Yates for Visma, after spending his entire professional career with the Australian team Jayco – Alula.
