The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) resumed the distribution of assistance in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, after canceling the distribution on Saturday due to the fact that the organization supported by the United States said they were direct threats from Hamas.
A distribution center opened its doors briefly during morning hours, ending the day after finishing the distribution of food packages, according to GHF. Two other sites were to open at noon in the Tel Sultan region in Rafah City, in southern Gaza.
The organization of aid announced on Saturday that it could not distribute food plots due to “direct threats” of Hamas which “made it impossible to continue working today without endangering innocent lives”.
The declaration accused Hamas of “seeking to return to a broken regime which he previously controlled and operated – by embezzlement of the aid routes, manipulate the distribution processes and advance his own program concerning the basic needs of the inhabitants of Gaza.”
Despite the risks, the Foundation stressed that “these threats will not dissuade the Gaza humanitarian foundation from its mission to deliver food to the Gazans who need it most” and that it “modifies our operations intensively to counter these threats” in order to resume the distribution of “without delay” aid.
The closure of Saturday followed the organization’s announcement that almost 9 million meals had been delivered since the start of operations on May 26.
Strong demand forced two distribution centers in southern Gaza close Friday. The big crowds that gathered early in the day “hinder our ability to obtain all the aids available at the distribution centers”, published the GHF on its Facebook page in Arabic.
Only Friday, the group distributed 471,240 meals on 8,160 food packages, according to its post.
The group also noted that it “works to increase the quantities and daily trucks, aimed at reaching 4.5 million meals distributed daily”.
The non -profit organization has asked gas not to arrive before official opening hours and to stay away from the roads before opening the centers.
He also asked that people leave the sites as quickly as possible after receiving a food package and to allow the necessary space for women and the elderly.
Israel welcomed the arrival of GHF as a means of providing aid directly to Gazan families, preventing Hamas from stealing the majority of supplies.
The United Nations Bureau of the General Assembly said on May 30 that “this initiative is an attempted bypass of the UN and its field agencies, above all a UNRWA, which has long provided humanitarian aid and basic services.”
He also said that “GHF fails to test humanitarian principles” and that it practiced “a policy of deprivation by conception”. The United Nations urged Israel to authorize UNRWA and other aid groups to reintegrate Gaza, and he refused to cooperate with GHF in his efforts to provide families in Gazan.
In the meantime, Reuters Friday evening, the US State Department plans to grant the GHF a budget of $ 500 million, according to two competent sources and two former US officials.
The funds, if provided, come from the American Agency for International Development (USAID), which is absorbed by the State Department, Reuters reported, citing four anonymous sources.
Thursday, the GHF reopened The two distribution sites of the southern band after having temporarily closed them for “updating, organization and work to improve efficiency” the day before.
The temporary frost followed three days of troubles around the distribution sites, where the soldiers of the TDIs pulled their weapons in the air to control the crowd and the armed men of Hamas pulled their weapons to discourage the gas from receiving aid and not under their control.
While Hamas publicly said that 61 people had been killed and 295 others injured, the FDI said that these figures were swollen.
GHF chief Johnnie Moore said that “false reports of violence on our sites have a scary effect on the local population, and we cannot think of any bad service of a community in an urgent need.”
