Get ready for the new leveling journey: level 80 is here!

On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, a brand new journey arrives in Pokémon GO, the adventure up to level 80! Get ready for a whole new leveling experience with new rewards, new cosmetics, the new daily adventure egg and much more.

New maximum level increase: level 80

The maximum trainer level will increase from level 50 to level 80.* The overall leveling system will be completely rebalanced to allow trainers to level up and earn rewards more frequently.

A host of new rewards have been added to level progression, including increased storage capacity for Pokémonarticles, gifts and postcards. This also includes new avatar itemsfrom level 25!

*Increasing the level cap only affects Trainer Level and not Pokémon Levels.

How will this affect your level as a coach?

When the leveling update goes live, all the XP you’ve earned so far will be applied to the rebalanced leveling curve to determine your new trainer level.

• No player will drop in level.
• The XP needed for your next level may change.
• Trainers at level 23 or higher will gain at least one level.
• Tasks for Top level research for levels 41-50 will be removed.
• New higher-level research tasks will be added for levels 71-80.. These will be completely new higher-level research tasks, not the previous level 42-50 research tasks.
• The trainers rretroactively receive the new avatar and storage rewards for all previous levels.

Daily Adventure Egg

Starting at level 15, trainers will be able to obtain a Free Daily Adventure Egg hatch a Pokémon and win 10,000 XP.

• When a Trainer logs into Pokémon GO for the first time on a new day, the Daily Adventure Egg will automatically be placed in its own incubator.*
• The trainers can only hold and incubate a daily adventure egg at once.
• The Daily Adventure Egg will hatch after exploring a distance of 1km.**
• The Daily Adventure Egg does not count towards the trainer’s current egg storage.
• The new daily adventure egg will include Pokémon first partner from Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Purple.

* The Daily Adventure Egg Incubator can only be used with the Daily Adventure Egg.

**Make sure you have Adventure Sync enabled to record distance traveled even when the Pokémon GO app is not open!

New avatar rewards

From level 25Trainers will be able to earn a variety of new avatar rewards to personalize their look. Trainers can earn these new avatar rewards at the following levels:

• Level 25: Poké Ball Cap
• Level 30: Poké Ball Shoes
• Level 35: Poké Ball Jacket
• Level 40: Large cap
• Level 45: Large Ball Shoes
• Level 50: Large Ball Jacket
• Level 55: Ultra Cap
• Level 60: Ultra Ball Shoes
• Level 65: Ultra Ball Jacket
• Level 71: Level 71 Shoes
• Level 73: Level 73 Shadow
• Level 75: Level 75 Pants
• Level 77: Level 77 Pose
• Level 79: Level 79 Hairstyle (short) and Level 79 Hairstyle (long)
• Level 80: Level 80 Jacket

New upgrade rewards

Trainers will now be able to earn new rewards by leveling up. increase their storage of Pokémon, objects, gifts and postcards.

Storage rewarded upon upgrade can allow trainers to exceed existing storage capacity limits! The increased storage space will be given to trainers to freeand it will not be necessary to buy it.

Increased chance of getting lucky friends at level 70

Trainers at level 70 and higher will have a increased chance of becoming lucky friends with trainers with whom they have reached the friendship level of Best Friends.

New XP Level Requirements

With the new level cap, the amount of XP that trainers must earn to reach different levels has been updated. Here are the XP Requirements for key stage levels:

Level 40	3,953,000 XP
Level 50	12,753,000 XP
Level 60	34,353,000 XP
Level 70	85,853,000 XP
Level 80	203,353,000 XP

To reach levels 71-80, trainers will need to both earn a certain amount of XP and complete new higher-level research tasks at each level.

Higher level research tasks for levels 41-50 will be removed. Higher level research tasks will only be associated with levels 71-80.

Other information

• Avatar items earned by reaching levels 40-50 before this level update will no longer be available from leveling up after October 15, 2025.
• The trainers will no longer be able to earn the level 50 jacket.
• Trainers will keep any higher-level items, poses, or other rewards they have already earned, including the Level 50 Jacket.
• Trainers will always start winning Candy XL at trainer level 31.
• Trainers will still need to be level 40 to be able to boost their Pokémon up to level 40.
• Previously, after reaching level 50, trainers encountered Mewtwo. This Mewtwo encounter will now be completed at trainer level 80. Trainers who have already completed this Mewtwo encounter at level 50 will only receive additional candy at level 80, not another Mewtwo encounter.

The XP Celebration Ultra Box is available in the Pokémon GO online store. For US$9.99 (or equivalent price point in your local currency), this online store deal includes 15 Lucky Eggs, a Super Incubator, an Incubator, five Incenses, and two Lure Modules to help you reach new levels.

There is a limit of 3 XP Celebration Ultra boxes per trainer.
