Davis was elevated to full WBA champion after Devin Haney vacated the belt before making weight.

Martin is ranked No. 2 with the main sanctioning body and enters the competition with an impressive and unblemished 18-0 record.

The last time Davis went between the ropes, he stopped Garcia in the body in April of last year.

Shortly after raising his hand, the Baltimore player spent 44 days in jail for violating the terms of a sentence that initially allowed him to avoid prison time.

In May of last year, Davis was sentenced to 90 days of home detention, three years of probation and 200 hours of community service for his hit-and-run car accident in November 2020, which injured four people.

He was later found guilty of violating the conditions of his house arrest and was consequently ordered to serve the remainder of his 90-day prison sentence.

However, he is now free to continue his career after his ankle monitor was removed.

Davis initially claimed the fight was scheduled for June 22 after reporting that the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas – which was originally the venue for the contest – had already been booked by American rapper Megan Thee Stallion on the 15th. June.

But the fight moved to MGM, allowing Davis and Martin to box on June 15 on an exciting PBC card.

Davis vs. Martin will serve as the main event with a WBC light heavyweight final elimination bout between David Benavidez and Oleksandr Gvozdyk serving as main support.

Boxing fans are desperate to see Benavidez face Canelo next, but the former pound-for-pound king has shown no interest in making the fight happen.

Ryan Garcia reveals the hardest puncher he’s ever faced and says he wants to box Teofimo Lopez, Shakur Stevenson, Gervonta Davis and Sean O’Malley

“The Monster” moved up to 175 pounds after continuing the fight against Canelo to no avail.

Provided he beats Gvozdyk, he will be in prime position to challenge whoever raises his hand in the undisputed light heavyweight clash between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev on June 1.

Meanwhile, he’s also mandatory for Canelo in the WBC at 168 pounds starting in March and so should have plenty of options on the table after June 15.

Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia will be live on talkSPORT starting at 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
